Seems to me...
1. Macromedia wants to keep the beta-testing of F5 within a controlled circle of users. This is perfectly understandable.
2. The web developer community is extremely curious about F5 and it's new features... 'What does the release of F5 mean to my current projects, and the projects in the pipline?', 'How will F5 affect my long-term future?' etc.
So there is definately a confict of interests here: People are dying to get at the details of F5 and MM are trying to keep the F5 beta out of public hands.
Perhaps there is some room for compromise? Would it not be possible for MM to make a controlled release of some of the specifics of the forthcomming Flash5?
Perhaps such a move would bring a little calm to the flash community and allow MM to get on with the beta test in (relative) peace. The hush-hush approach just seems to be stirring up the interest!
Just an idea,
