Wow! I've not been here in AGES. I read every post... I remember so many of you. I was once a Flash noob and came here for help. Several of you who have posted helped me out. I've not coded in several years now and feel like I've forgotten most of it, so I'm a noob again.
I get the urge to code a game or something every now and then, but as it seems like Flash is dying and everyone tries to get away from it so it's not supported anywhere - makes me lose interest
I wish Flash would still be popular for browser games so I could get the motivation to start learning again. I don't wanna dabble in AIR stuff like apps for phones, only browser games.
Maybe I'm wrong and not properly informed and Flash IS still a sought after thing?
Anyway, was nice to see you all again!

I remember when that was everyone's goal. Oddly when they redid the db in one of the big power shifts I lost 2000 non-lounge posts.

Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'sir' without adding, 'you're making a scene.'

There is still plenty of Flash out there. There are still Flash jobs. There are still Flash games (most of them in fact, try any game on Facebook and see what plugin it uses!) There are still Flash banner ads. Youtube still uses Flash for video depending on the device you are browsing with (I just checked with Firefox on a Windows 7 PC... yep, still Flash plugin!) and Flash Professional as an interactive media tool is still an amazing tool for animation, app development and lots more, and will remain relevant thanks to better and better HTML5 export options.
And why be afraid of Air? It requires maybe a day of learning how to package and that's it. It's not a new language. It's just a way to export apps.
Some facts though:
- Yes, Unity is making great strides in stealing away market share from Flash for web games and mobile apps, but it's still not the majority.
- Yes, one day browsers will not allow any plugins of any kind at all. Hopefully Flash Pro will be able to fully export to HTML5/JS or WebGL when that day comes so that it won't matter. But don't stop making games TODAY because of TOMORROW.
