    [BETA] Love's Arrow

    Hey everyone,
I'm getting ready to publish my new Valentine's game over at The Pencil Farm:

    Love's Arrow

Let me know what you think.
I'd be interested in general feedback, what you think about the difficulty and pace, and of course any bugs or performance issues.

Was quite fun... much more so when i realized I didn't need to wait for one arrow to land to fire the next

    Yeah, nice!

Allthough the game is good the way it is, I'd like to suggest to take a look at:
    http://www.gamebalance.com/games/babycalthrow.html

It might be cool to get extra bonusses when you drop a heart at someone already delighted and let him/her turn around so you get even more chances. But that's just a thought, it's great this way.

    Thanks guys.
Thanks for the suggestion Walnoot, I hadn't thought of that. I'll try it out and see how it works.

Did you consider to make the arrow-heart collision timebased instead of framebased?, it's not a real big deal (it maybe skips 2 hearts per game for me), but if you're trying to go for perfection.....

Yeah, I didn't notice it was a problem until the very end. It seems to happen more often in a browser.
I feel like it doesn't happen frequently enough for me to redo it. Also I'm not exactly sure how to go about fixing it.

really enjoyed the game; however, I had this giant urge to shoot people... maybe you can be punished if an arrow collides with a person lol. I guess that would be a silly concept but Like the game as a whole will definitely play it again.

It will have it's cons too, since you will do a mathematical collision test then, you should probably go for a collision-field with the shape of a circle round the heart, which will result in hearts falling without really touching them.
(Allthough that's less frustrating than hearts not falling when you shoot them )

I just found this thread in the sticky...

That's a really great game, simple, original and cute.... and fun.

Though I did wonder if something bad should happen if you rail someone.

Also, if someone gets horny, they just run off the screen, perhaps they should grab another person first and then run off screen with them?

You've got lots of potential for a sequel

I too wanted to shoot the people. I suppose I need some work before the 14th.

    re: lesli_felix,
I considered both of those things. I figured the game would be too hard if you had to keep track of stray arrows (to keep from hitting people). Also, I generally prefer to make my games non-violent (aside from my disgusting roach-smashing game).
I think you are right about the people getting together. I feel like this is the one part of the game that feels unfinished. In the end I just didn't have enough time to work out all the game-design issues involved with adding that feature.
But you're right, maybe Love's Arrow 2: Judgement Day will have both features.
