pop up window

Does anyone know why it is when I use (as a button) get url and put in link as follows:
javascript:void(window.open('http://www.name.com/pagename.html','pagename','alwaysRaised=yes,resiza ble=no,scrollbars=no,width=600,height=350,left=25, top=115,screenX=100,screenY=100'));

it works if a flash movie is already opened in a pop-up window but does not work if the flash is embedded on a page in a regular window (get can't find server error). It also works when played in the browser from KM program but not when loaded to web - If anyone has any clues that would be great.

what browser are you using? include both Name and Version # and OS you are using (although it shouldn't matter somtimes it does).

Anyhow I tested it from a browser- then I put it on a server and it worked:
I made a simple pop-up movie just to tripple check that it does indeed work using your code. On the server it is at http://www.geocities.com/jsnider.geo/testpopup.html The pop-up takes you to google. I tested it from IE 5.5 SP 2 running under Windows 95. I then tested it from NS 6.2 on the same machine. Both Locally, on a server, and then Finally I put it On Geo****ies (the ultimate test)and it works No Problem.

Try it and see if the addie I posted works. The error that you were getting sounds like a normal IE and NS error when the URI is bad. The server may have been unavailble when you tested it. If the example I posted doesn't work then its something else.

That worked without a problem - I am at a loss, the fact is that I checked and double checked the url - even copied and pasted from same url as when it worked okay from the flash movie opened in a pop up. The server was fine at the time. I'll try again and if no good could I send you the fun.file?

I now have egg on my face. Something very strange is going on here. I tested the javascript:void url again on a movie in a regular window - and presto! - the pop up worked. I even used exactly the same url as I had it copied to a file. I pasted it to the Get URL box, same as the countless times I tried before. Maybe I just had a glitch with IE 5.5. Thanx again for your help.

Not a problem. I have noticed that IE acts up from time to time also .

Shoot most MS products act up from time to time. Just today I was working in Access ,on a project I have privately named Database Hell, and for no reason Access puttered out and stopped accepting Expresions in Queries- I finally had to dump that DB, Export my tables, and import all my tables into a new DB... My boss wants the whole thing online and wants it in Access (probably thinking that it can be maintained at a cheap rate if I'm gone)- I couldn't talk them out of it EG; it won't scale well, Access tends to be buggy, there are better things than Access for this, and how about a nice Java backend- but alas they want it in Access so I am stuck with access. Okay I'm wandering now...

Anyhow I'm glad you got it all sorted.
