Unity3d subsection: Do you want it?
For those who don't know, unity3d, is a free(indie version) game development tool, to create stunning 3d games with the ease of flash..it even has built in networking support, Iphone and Wii capabilities. www.unity3d.com
Now, a lot of us will be learning this new software, so why not have a subsection about unity3d right here? that way, we all can discuss and learn together, also this will be specific for the flash devs, so we will be able to better discuss the move from flash to unity3d.
If you think we could use the subsection, vote "yes".

Hype over content...
No. The games section of this forum is stagnant enough, I can't see the point of another section of the board devoted to a totally different technology where games still won't actually be produced either.
Just 'cause everyone has a buzz in their pants this week about Unity, give it a month and over three quarters of the people trying it now will have dropped out from using.
That leaves a quarter of people left, with very few experts on hand to help out.
Go to the official Unity boards, increase their traffic, add value to their community, rather than trying to splinter an all ready dying forum.

I really like this new tecnology and the idea to try it, but this isn't flash
I need to learn another language of programming and i dont understand the full capabilities of flash
I prefer to wait for the 3D flash capabilities in the future
I wont vote till see more opinions or arguments

I have to agree with Squize. Making 3d games is much harder than 2d games, and many will give up shortly. It's better to have an entire forum devoted to the technology rather than a subforum. That way there will be many more qualified people to help out when you have an issue. Has anyone on here even built a completed game in Unity yet?
-
Yes we can
Yeah, i have built a few completed games with unity already-
Its funny regarding what you say: The majority of those were 2D games
I use each technology where it makes more sense than another so meanwhile i mostly only use flash for video, vector graphics and text and timeline animation heavy stuff.
For anything where flash´s performance isn´t good enough or i would have to go for codeside only AS3 or Pixelbender nonsense setup,
no matter if 2D or 3D i´d rather use unity3d or other technologies.
So yeah, i think more and more people will like me not only use unity for 3d stuff but also for 2d.
To scheletro: If you want to do this or that and the tool/ language you use doesn´t allow doing it, then choose another which allows it if its something you really want to do.
I think its no good idea to wait for "3d flash capabilities in the future" because well, you could be waiting for something propper do be done for a very long time there.
Regarding having a sub section for unity3d here i obviously think it is a technology with lots of great sides that is very appealing and i´d also be glad to meet some of the guys from here in the future but i agree with the others, unity´s own forums are very active and i think it makes more sense to go there for unity related things rather than to create splitter forums inside flash centric ones.

Yes we can
Sadly no joke, i remember very well how with every version since the year 2000 (when flash 5 was pretty new) and even before the flash developers and designers would moan and ask for better content/ player performance loader and louder and first Macromedia, then Adobe hyped every version since then up as now with x times better performance!
So yeah, we´re closing in on 10 years if we haven´t already passed em.
